Appointments

Please ensure you are Accessing the Right Care, from the Right Place

We operate a telephone call back system.  This means we will attempt to manage the problem on the phone and will invite you for a face to face consultation when necessary. All the doctors do face to face consultations when it is necessary. We also have our Team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) who can deal with minor ailments and assess you too. We do ask when you phone in to let us know if you have more than one medical problem so we can make sure you get seen by the most appropriate health care professional. If you let us know we can allocate you more time. We prefer for safety to deal with one problem per 10 minutes consultation. If you wish to have a consultation with a particular GP or NP there may be a longer wait. We prefer you to contact us by telephone if you can, this will save you having to queue at Reception and having to go away home to wait on a telephone call back.

A GP may not be the most appropriate person to help you, depending on your health needs. Many different professionals are now in the practice team, such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Nurses, Physiotherapists, Primary Care, Long Term Condition Nurses, Diabetic Nurse Specialists, Treatment Room Nurses (CTAC), Phlebotomists. Its is important when you call in that you give good general information about your needs. This is treated in strictest confidence and it will help direct you to the most appropriate expert in the team. We ask that patients try to stick to our policy of one problem per 10 minute consultation. If you have more than one problem let us know so we can allocate you more time.

Home Visits

Telephone before 11am if an urgent visit is required for the same day.

Only emergency visits will be accepted after 11am.

It is helpful if the receptionist is given as much information as possible to enable our clinicians to prioritise.  We will often phone before visiting.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the surgery for the time it takes to do one home visit. Home visits are only available for patients who are truly housebound because of severe illness or disability.
